Inspired by her father, who played the trumpet, Josie began her musical journey at the young age of seven. Josie enjoyed the special relationship she shared with her father as he encouraged her trumpet playing throughout the years. Josie continued her studies through Junior High and High School music and band programs. She earned degrees in education at Long Island University, Queens College, and St. John's University. Her love of music led her to teach instrumental music in the N.Y.C. Department of Education. Playing the trumpet has become a family tradition, as her sons and grandchildren have also become trumpeters. With a move from New York to Pennsylvania, Josie currently enjoys playing trumpet with the Crystal Band of Scranton, the Keystone College Symphonic Band, and the Brass Storm Quintet.

Christian began his musical journey in middle school and went on to study trombone performance at Marywood University. Christian is a versatile trombonist; specializing in bass trombone. Mel’s musical journey began in middle school, where she first picked up the flute and played from 4th through 8th grade. By high school, she was ready to make a little more noise—joining the marching band and taking on trumpet and mellophone on the field. In concert band, she discovered her true voice on the French horn. She went on to study music at Marywood University, majoring on French horn. But when life took her in a new direction, Mel joined the military, stepping away from music for nearly two decades—except for the solemn honor of performing “Taps” on trumpet for military ceremonies. In 2024, Mel reignited her passion for music, returning to the French horn with renewed purpose. She now performs with the Crystal Band of Scranton, the Keystone College Symphonic Band, and Brass Storm.Always by her side (and sometimes offering a JUDGEMENTAL ear for missed notes) is her service dog, Goose—the beloved and unofficial mascot of Brass Storm.

Goose- Service Dog & Brass Storm Mascot

Goose Isn't just Brass storm's mascot - he's a trained service dog who works alongside mel, providing support on and off the stage. always steady, calm, and loyal, Goose brings a quiet strength wherever the music takes him. he proudly graduated from stand with me assistance dog training in Binghamton, NY, and has since been Mel's partner - whether in REHEARSALS, at concerts, or TRAVELING with the band. When he's off duty, goose enjoys relaxing with his favorite people, making new friends, and occasionally offering a well timed side-eye if a note goes astray.
